As mentioned in my earlier blog post I was able to make donations from the sale of our photography through my nonprofit Outreach Astronomy to the P.T.A. at The All Age School, The Harbour Island Green School, Briland Animal Rescue, and The Exceptional Education Outreach of the Bahamian Family Islands. Last March I traveled to meet with these schools in person. Seeing first-hand the impact my endeavor was having on these schools was extremely impactful and motivates me to not only continue but to broaden my efforts. What surprised me the most was how open and welcoming the Bahamian people were to me. They embraced me warmly and brought me into their schools, their classrooms and I visited with many students. They worked with me to identify their needs. I was shocked when they shared that many things are taken from their islands but little is ever given back and that is why they were so excited to celebrate my endeavors as a young person and hopefully inspire their students to do the same one day.
I am very excited to share an update on the new school year from Tamara the head of the P.T.A. at The All Age School. Tamara shared with me that they were able to purchase new text books from my donation for each child in every grade from 1-12! Parents are required to purchase all text books for their children to attend school which can be quite costly. When I met with them to identify their needs I was surprised to learn this.
I have been invited to return next summer and collaborate with them in an educational capacity and to share my love of photography and astronomy with their students. I look forward to deepening my relationships I have made there and expanding my reach to further meet the community's needs. Attached is a photo of some of the students with their new textbooks that Tamara sent me!
Remember to always look up!

Take what you need. Give what you can. In the fall of 2020 I approached my Mom about selling my photography. We share a love of photography and enjoy challenging each other to see who can capture an image. My mom resisted and put me off for months (she didn't think I would sell a single photograph) but I persisted and I'm so glad she agreed. As I watched the pandemic affect the world, the places I love to photograph, I decided to use photography to give back. A special thank you to Tamara, the head of the P.T.A. for The All Age School on Harbour Island, who shared with me that The All Age School educates over 400 students with the current high school being held in a condemned building. Parent's are required to purchase all textbooks for their children to attend school and our donation will be used to provide those textbooks. Also thank you to Will at The Harbour Island Green School, and Lang at Exceptional Education Outreach in the Bahamian Family Islands. Being an animal lover I also wanted to support the Potcakes at Briland Animal Rescue. And I am just getting started...
Thank you to everyone who has made an Evans Britt Photograph a part of their home. There are many new exciting images coming.
